developed a great set of friends that I truly liked and respected. No one
        could ask for more.
My ideal society is where each of us is given an equal opportu-
nity and is rewarded based on our accomplishments. To me, West High
was that ideal society. For example one of my best friends, Darwin So-

win’s Dad was a railroad car cleaner, one of the humblest jobs on the
        railroad.
In high school my close friends formed the Tops Club. All eight
of us members were in activities at West. In addition to Darwin Soren-
son, Vaun Roylance was Captain of the West High Band. Veigh Neilson

and musician. Gordon Bywater, Dave Johnson, Gail Gill, and Ozzie Al-
len were close friends all through these years. I shall always remember
this group of fellows with pride and admiration. I was a pal with these
fellows during school and outside school. Half of them were Mormons.
I can’t recall religion even being discussed. None of us smoked, none of
us ever drank and none ever had any sexual experiences. They were a
grand group. I treasure my high school days with them.
