MR VARGA: A MESSAGE FROM THE TUTOR
I have been a professional tutor for the past 7 years. I obtained my BA degree in Medicine from Trinity College, Cambridge; where I am a senior scholar for my academic performance. After 18 months of Clinical Training, during which time I was an Associate Clinical Supervisor involved in the clinical education of lower years, I transitioned into a full-time career in education. I have taught internationally at a summer camp in China, as a science teacher at an international school in Korea and at an International Olympic Academy in France. I also work as a medical application consultant, helping numerous students obtain places at medical schools across the UK. I have many interests ranging from film to literature, music to sport, and have been involved in various residential placements as a tutor and mentor. I prepare every lesson in advance for students and tailor my approach to individual needs. My goal in tutoring is to allow every student to achieve the best they can and to provide general advice on how to be as efficient as possible. By working in this way there is ultimately less stress on students, which is not only good for their wellbeing but also for their studies.
The first few sessions of your tuition programme will be centred on assessing the areas of academic weakness or uncertainty in your science-related subject. This will be followed by in-depth content coverage of all topics as set out in your prescribed syllabus if required.
Coverage of core content within your specification is followed or complemented by examination paper practice, aimed at familiarising you with the style and format of practical questions. In the run-up to examinations, this practical approach during your PTC sessions will enable you to apply new and existing knowledge to authentic assessment from previous years. In this way, we shall be training to build the necessary skills to tackle assessment effectively to ensure optimal results. Exam technique skills to be covered include interpretation of exam questions, addressing the demands of each question appropriately, working within time constraints of each paper and effective allocation of time under timed conditions. As an experienced Oxbridge tutor I look forward to assisting pupils aspiring to excel in the scientific field of biology, chemistry or mathematics at any level, online or internationally over the longer term.
