“Helen introduced me to growing green peppers in Kingston (they didn’t grow where I
came from – Kapuskasing)” –Pat Young (Nursing ’62). Helen visited Pat in Mitchell, ON
in 2017.
“…memory of the Afghan that Helen made for Syd and my wedding in 1966”. Peggy
(Tait) Barton (TWH ’60 and Nursing ’62). Peggy and Syd had been in Helen and Bob’s
wedding party.
MICHAEL JOHN CARD ARRIVES!
On Tuesday, March 5, 1968 Helen delivered Michael John Card, the second of her
three children. Again Dr. Merrill Trotter was the attending with assistance from an
obstetrician for this birth. A subtle change in rules had occurred so that Bob was able to
view the birth, albeit through a one-way window but not in the room. Michael arrived
shortly before the Card family moved to Boston thus he had to move to a new city at a
very young age, as did Geoff 5 years later. While not related Robert Kennedy and Martin
Luther King were assassinated within the next 3 months.
