Understanding
the Risk
• It is important to understand that the water quality has not
changed, the regulation has. This is the same high quality water
that was in compliance at the prior NJ guidance level of 40 ppt
and remains far below the EPA’s health advisory level of 70 ppt.
• Exceeding this PFOA standard poses NO IMMEDIATE HEALTH
RISK OR ACUTE THREAT TO YOUR HEALTH!
• People who drink water containing PFOA over the MCL, over a
period of 70 years have a 1 in a million chance of an adverse
health effect from such consumption.
