Exceedance Type and Notification Period

Exceeding the MCL for PFOA is considered a Tier 2 Violation

meaning it is not an emergency, or an acute threat

(immediate health risk).

As our customers you have a right to know what happened

and we are required to issue NJDEP approved language to all

customers who receive any amount of water from the

groundwater treatment facility. We are not able to

accompany that notice with any public education to further

explain the notice which is why we have added so many

resources to our website.

Developing the notification language and audience, and

obtaining NJDEP approval takes time – as does printing and

mailing. The mailing was completed within NJDEP guidelines.
