Step 3
Identify and Appreciate
Your Strengths
Right then. Time to listen to yourself objectively.
It’s absolutely invaluable, when you want to move onto a new level in
anything, that you actually feel good about the level you’re currently
on. Appreciating what you already have is profound. It gives you a good
baseline, it gives you hope and motivates you.
It’s also crucial to identify the areas that you want to change. When you
really pin-point them, you stop feeling disempowered by a ‘general fuzzy
feeling’ that your voice isn’t good enough. (which keeps you in stagnation).
You have clarified what it is that you want to transform and broken it down
into clear manageable chunks.
So the action steps here are:
1 To listen to yourself singing in front of a mirror.
2 Now write a list:
3 What about my singing is not so strong or I would like to be
different?
4 What I do like / love / appreciate about my singing?
A person who
feels appreciated Be as specific and detailed as possible. Be as objective as you can. Listen
will always achieve in carefully to different aspects of your singing - tone quality, range,
more than what is projection, musicality, expressiveness.
expected Write out the positives in thick coloured pens and stick them on your wall.
Look at them every day, to build your self-appreciation and confidence.
