religion Nepal remained under the sway of the religion for long,

and even today one may come across its relics in quite unexpected
corners I spent one whole day visiting the temples at Pathanam

and Bhathugam, two small towns near Khatmandu I found many

temples built in the Buddhist style with the idols of Buddha still

intact The excellence of the Buddhist style of architecture is dis-
played in every one of them In the towns Buddhists live side by

side with their kith and kin, reconverted into the Hindu fold.
