There are currently 9 radars in Denmark, which are electronically linked, so that,

for example, the air traffic controller in Karup can see the aircraft taxiing on the

               ground in Kastrup.

The transponder is not a guarantee against collision, but it can reduce the risk of

               collision.

With mode C you can also enter C airspace.

Back to our flight from Roskilde to Stauning.

In Roskilde we were asked to SQUAWK 4231. This means that we have to set the

               transponder to 4231.

                   - SQUAWK Stand By means that you have to set the selector to Stand By

                   - SQUAWK mode CHARLI means that you have to set the selector to ALT

                      (Altitude)

                   - SQUAWK IDENT means that you have to activate the Ident program by

pressing the IDENT button. Your transponder response will then light up

on the air traffic controller's radar screen.

Do not press IDENT unless you have been asked to do so!

               7.2.2.3 En-route procedures

Now we have left the Roskilde control zone. If the trip were to take place at an

altitude higher than 1500 ft, we would need permission to ascend into Roskilde

TMA. However, we do not need that on this trip.

But we need to stay informed, so to get traffic information and alert service we

               contact Copenhagen Information.
