1. General about the radiocommunication certificate

Radio communication Teaching consists of 3 parts:

- theory

- 2-way communication
- language assessment

As previously mentioned, there may be 3 or more reasons why you want a BEG-

English certificate:

1) You want a PPL, LAPL, UL or SPL certificate

2) You would like to be able to talk on the radio abroad

3) You would like to be able to talk on the radio without being a pilot, e.g. to

relieve the pilot.

With the new rules, you must always have a theoretical exam in the same

language as the wanted certificate.

If you have already passed the PPL subject Communication (COM) in English, you

have also passed the theoretical exam for BEG English.

If you have NOT passed the COM exam in English before taking the BEG-English

radio communication exam, you must pass an English theoretical radio exam

immediately before the 2-way communication exam.

One of the subjects you need to have to get a PPL, LAPL or UL certificate is
communication – i.e. the theory of the radio certificate. It can be a bit confusing,

so here is a more detailed explanation.

The actual pilot certificate in Denmark (PPL, LAPL, UL) and the radio certificate

are two separate certificates that have nothing to do with each other. In order
to be allowed to fly an aircraft, you must have a pilot certificate. In order to be

allowed to talk on the radio, you must have a radio certificate.
