2.4.2 The autonomic nervous system
We also have another nervous system that we cannot consciously control - the
autonomic nervous system.
It controls internal organs, blood vessels, blood pressure, heart rate, body
temperature, sweating, and more.
2.4.2.1 Sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
The autonomic nervous system consists of two subsystems that keep each
other in balance: Sympathetic system and Parasympathetic system.

2.4.3 Diseases of the nervous system
The nervous system can be affected by diseases and injuries.
The brain may be damaged by: stroke or brain hemorrhage, head trauma,
toxins, infections, aging, tumors.
We are born with a fixed number of nerve cells. Once a nerve cell is destroyed,
it cannot be replaced. Other cells can only partially take over their functions.
