The manual system must be used at altitudes above 5000 feet, or whatever the

manual prescribes for the engine type.
• To make the carburetor perfect, even when we fly up into the thinner air,

we insert an automatic mixture control AMC for the air intake.

8.9.2 Carburetor ice

Carburetor ice is formed as a result of a drop in temperature due to:

- Evaporation of gasoline

- Expansion of air
- Pressure drops in the venturi

Carburetor ice is dangerous

because the engine can stall.

Carburetor ice can occur both

in the venturi and on the

throttle.
