                9.11.5 Approach and landing

Approach and especially landing is the most difficult part of the trip and require

                your full concentration.

                9.11.5.1 Approach

Well before arriving at the arrival airport, you must prepare for your approach,

as there are different arrival procedures. How many and which ones depend on

                the airport's classification.

Normally, the landing round takes place at 1000 ft GND, and you follow the same

round as the other aircrafts on their way for landing.

If it is a controlled airport, you call before you reach the control zone and

receive instructions from the air traffic controller on how to proceed,
what the QNH of the airport is, which runway is in use, etc.

If it is an AFIS site, you call up and ask for landing information, and you

provide information to AFIS about your intentions.

If the airfield is unmanned, you still call up to ask if there are other planes

in the landing circuit and to say what you are doing.

                9.11.5.2 Holding

In a control zone, you may be asked to wait in a holding position (a specified

holding position) until the air traffic controller gives permission to land
