Navigation

                9.11.4.2 Bearing

If you are in doubt about where you are, you can often determine your position

yourself using one or more navigation aids or by obtaining a bearing.

With a visual bearing, you find the line

                you are currently on.

To determine the line, you need two
points on the same line or one point

                and a reference direction.

With the help of two or more bearings,

you can find the aircraft's position as the intersection of the lines.

                If you obtain

                bearings from two

                VOR stations, you

                can determine the

                aircraft's position in

                the same way.

Should you find yourself "lost on your own" on a flight, help is no further away

than the button on your radio. Call the relevant flight information unit and
                request assistance.

                9.11.4.3 The 1:60 Rule

Normally, you will fly a planned route following landmarks along the way.

If you get OFF Track (i.e. off the planned course), there is a way to correct so that

you get back on track gradually.
