Air Law
In TAF (± 1 hour) for the destination or planned point on the route from
where the rest of the route will be conducted with ground visibility, the
amount of cloud cover overflown must not exceed 4/8 for each cloud layer
(SCT).
- Visibility: On the ground must be at least 5 km.
- Fuel: Upon starting a flight, the fuel carried, taking into account the wind
and other meteorological conditions that can be expected at the altitude
at which the flight is intended to be conducted, must be sufficient for:
a) the destination airport and from there to an alternate airport, and
then at least 45 minutes of flight at normal cruising speed.
or
b) a predetermined point and from there to the destination/alternate
airport and from there either to the destination or alternate airport,
plus at least 45 minutes of flight at normal cruising speed.
Execution:
- A flight plan must be filed for the flight.
- May only be conducted as VFR during the day.
Remember, in airspace where ground visibility is required, you may not fly VFR
without ground visibility. This means in airspace G below 3000 feet.
1.4.6.5 VFR Night flight
It is possible to extend your PPL certificate to also allow VFR flight at night.
The times for VFR night flight are those times when you can no longer fly VFR
during the day and until the morning when you can fly VFR during the day. See
times in the VFG or on the back of the ICAO chart.
It is allowed to fly VFR at night under the following conditions:
- The pilot must have trained for VFR night with an approved
school/instructor.
