If we look down towards the runway system when passing EKSV, we will be able
to see a signal platform at the northern end. Signals can be laid out on this, which
tell aircraft about various conditions at the airport.
Below is a little about which signals may be in question and their meaning.
3.3 Ground signals
The marks shown below may either be located at specific locations or on the
aerodrome signaling platform.
If you cannot get information over the radio, it is possible to see the posted
marks when flying over the square. However, outside of service hours, the
landing T will not be laid out.
Landing prohibition. Red square area with yellow diagonals means
that landing on the airfield is prohibited. The ban will be of longer
duration.
Special caution must be exercised. Red square flag with a yellow
diagonal indicates that caution must be exercised due to the poor
condition of the maneuvering area or other reasons.
A white flag in the shape of a dumbbell means that take-
off, landing and driving by aircraft must only take place on
runways and taxiways.
Dumbbell with a black stripe on each circle surface means
that take-off and landing must take place on runways,
whereas other maneuvers can be carried out outside run-
ways and taxiways.
