Career Highlights:
• Successfully defended a £1.5m dilapidations claim of a well-known property in London
• Dealing with contested lease renewal proceedings where the demise of the original lease had been split with part being sold off
• Challenging a local authority (through Judicial Review proceedings) of its decision to refuse commercial occupier empty rates relief
KATE EVANS

Career: Joined DJB in 2015 following a career at Fladgate LLP.
Career Highlights:
• Variety of lease work for a national chain of shoe retailers on the management of their leasehold portfolio including surrenders, assignments, underlettings and licences to alter
• Matters relating to several leasehold properties, including the creation and extension of leases and licence for alterations in support of refurbishment work for a Central Government Body
• Estates management work for an International Logistics Company
BEN FAIRHURST

Career: Joined DJB in 2016 after a career at Eversheds, McGrigors and Pinsent Masons. Ben has particular expertise in telecommunications and is dual English & Australian quali ed.
Career Highlights:
• Property advice to Vodafone and Telefonica’s JV company in the second largest UK telecommunications infrastructure deal of its time and advising Telefónica for 6 years in connection with their cell site porfolio
• Sole property lawyer to Bijou Brigitte, advising on 13 acquisitions of retail space in major UK shopping centres
• Several leasehold acquisitions for the DWP relating to job centres and medical assessment centres
AMANDA FRENCH
PQE: 13 years
Career: Joined DJB in 2019 following a career at Womble Bond Dickinson and in-house at the BBC, Farrow & Ball, River Island, and Folk2Folk.
Career Highlights:
• Acting for tenants including numerous national “household name” retailers with over £75m turnover
• Led on the management of £100m mixed asset property portfolio
• Developed a work ow system for a multi-million pound retailer for the grant of leases and for a lease renewal project involving a portfolio of more than 800 stores
• Head of Property Legal at two multinational retailers advising strategically on their global property portfolio
