All About Advice…
and Letters to the Editor Just recently I was joking about getting
an advice column going in the magazine.
Note – I was jok-
ing! Imagine – me
being the “agony
uncle” … sober-
ing thought, I kid
you not! Not long
after that, a friend
shared this piece
of wisdom about
the different ways
ladies and men
would tackle the
delicate matter of
advice sharing. I
promise – this was
enough to moti-
vate me… to never
get that said advice
column going!
Hi There,
04 May 2020 - You know - I might have a letter from my
father written when he was stationed in Cape Town dur-
ing WW2 that might be of interest to your readers. I will
have to see if I can find it.
25 Jun 2020 - So sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I could not find my Dad’s original letter which included
him talking about The Lady in White singing to their ship
as they left Durban Harbour (and everyone on it rush-
ing to one side of the ship to hear her!) But I did find the
attached - not sure if it is suitable or not. He wrote to a
newspaper back in 1991, I think it was.
It could have even been The Burma Star association news-
letter. My father passed away in 1999 but I can also let you
have his regiment details if that would help. Thank you.
