STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – No. 16 Rutgers field hockey (10-7, 4-4 Big Ten) battled throughout with Penn State
(6-11, 4-4 Big Ten), outshooting them for the contest. However, the Nittany Lions scored last, and took a
2-1 victory from the Scarlet Knights in the final regular season game of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first quarter, 12 minutes into the game, Penn State struck first. Capitalizing off a penalty corner,
Abby Myers scored to give PSU a 1-0 advantage.
In the third quarter, Rutgers evened the score. After a corner, Austyn Cuneo took the initial shot from
the top, and Clayre Smith knocked home the rebound to tie the game.
In the fourth quarter, Penn State went back in front. With five minutes remaining, Jemma Punch scored
