       Big Ten Announces Field Hockey Postseason

       Michigan’s Guadalupe Fernandez Lacort named Big Ten Player of the
       Year



       ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2019 field hockey All-Big Ten teams and individual
       award winners on Wednesday, with Iowa, Maryland, Michigan and Northwestern collecting individual
       honors. The Wolverines’ Guadalupe Fernandez Lacort was tabbed Player of the Year, while
       Northwestern’s Bente Baekers collected Freshman of the Year accolades. Maryland’s Madison
       Maguire claimed Offensive Player of the Year honors, while teammate Bodil Keus received Defensive
       Player of the Year. Iowa’s Lisa Cellucci earned Coach of the Year recognition.

       Fernandez Lacort earned Big Ten Player of the Year honors after leading the Wolverines to a 13-5 record
       and the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The senior midfielder helped Michigan to a top-10 ranking
       with 12 assists, 18 points and pair of game-winning goals. Fernandez Lacort’s award marks the sixth time a
       Wolverine has been named Big Ten Player of the Year and the first since Katie Trombetta in 2017.

       Maguire secured Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Terrapins to their fifth Big Ten
       Championship in the last six years. Maguire ranks second in the conference in game-winning goals (3) and
       third in goals (12), assists (10) and points (34). Maguire is the first Terrapin to earn Big Ten Offensive Player of
       the Year honors. Keus collected the fourth Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award for the Terrapins and
       became the first Big Ten standout to earn the distinction in back-to-back years since Penn State’s Brittany
       Grzywacz (2012-13). The senior defender led a Terrapin defense that has allowed just 16 goals in 18 games,
       while ranking among the top five on the team with four goals and contributing five assists for a total of 13
       points.

       Baekers earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors after leading the conference in shots (85), goals (24)
