Aside from problems with others as they stroll around, finding a job is extremely difficult for them.
Even though many impaired persons are capable of productive work, their employment rates are
significantly lower than normal people. The situation is significantly worse in the private sector,
where disabled people are far less likely to be employed. Physical accessibility in buildings,
transportation, and access to services, among other things, continues to be a big issue. Furthermore,
most offices should ensure the premises are accessible to disabled people if they are contemplating
hiring them. Road safety, residential area safety, public transportation system safety and other safety
measures should be implemented. The boss will have a lot of work on his hands. Last but not least, in
terms of the educational system, where there are several concerns, including the availability of special
schools, school access, skilled teachers, and educational materials for the disabled.
Objectives
The objective of Eyesist is to assist and guide blind and low-vision people with an AI system. This
application will be a useful service with affordable price, and easy to get and available in the market.
It will be really useful to them and highly recommend to guide and assist them around.
Product’s Novelty
Global blindness has set to reach 60 million by 2050, so, this trend has to be stopped before it
becomes worse. Therefore, we create Eyesist, an app to help blind and low vision people with
Artificial Intelligence (A.I) program that can assist as visual assistance. Most people with bad
eyesight having problems recognizing something around them and all of the treatment and remedies
just cost them too much. So, we decide to help them with this app because as we know, a mobile
phone is something that most people have, they just need to install it.
Our application uses a wide range of technologies such as high-powered cameras, maps and voice
systems to assist those people safely everywhere. The system for our application is not too
complicated. First of all, we use high-powered cameras to detect what is in front of the camera. We
program and save the data on the application by scanning all kinds of things first. The camera can
detect something that is 10 meters away from it. We also program the application and scan all the
alphabet and all kinds of language to make sure it can detect or read any kind of word. Just knowing
your surrounding doesn’t guarantee your safety. So, we use the map to detect and tell the user about
their location. They can make sure their whereabouts either they’re going to the right or the wrong
place. Next, we use a voice system to communicate with the owner. When the voice system receiving
the question or request, it will record the frequencies from your voice and translate them into a code.
To identify the particular patterns and phrases the voice system will break down. All of the data wills
get input into the algorithm that strains through millions of blends of sentences to determine the
meaning of the input. It works around all languages to determine the context of a sentence. Once the
voice system determines the request or the question, it begins to carry out the task by answering those
requests and questions. So, the process for the application is to detect something using the camera and
the A.I system will start to assist by telling the information about the detected thing and also will help
with your location.
Programming is one of the crucial steps in making this application achieve its main function possible.
It is important to choose the right device or technology to make sure the application working
flawlessly without any crash or anything that might be bad for the user experience. So, we decide to
limit the device that can use this application and the device won’t be able to install the application
because of the compatibility. It’s not easy because something that we want to try to achieve is not in
the market yet, and we will do our best to make the apps available and get to help those blind and
low-vision people.
