Membrane Bioreactors (MBR’s)
The objectives of a Membrane Bioreactor are to provide enhanced suspended
solids and BOD removal within, or next to a conventional activated sludge
treatment, without the need for an expanded design footprint.
Membrane Bioreactors provide high quality effluent that can be utilized for
community reuse. Membranes can also be used to augment old wastewater
facilities that are challenged to meet permit requirements.
MBR systems do not need secondary clarifiers to separate solids, so the design
“footprint” is much smaller than a conventional activated sludge aeration basin
clarifier configuration.
