Membrane Bioreactors (MBR’s)

Membranes consist of microscopic pores small enough to

prohibit mixed liquor particles from penetrating, but large

enough to allow cleaned wastewater to flow through.

Time and constant interface with mixed liquor will eventually

clog the pores, requiring backflushing to clear the pores.
