Operator Facility Rounds
High Flow Rounds Cont.
Screens
Screens typically run more often during high flow periods. The collection system can
release a lot of grease, grit and debris ending up on the screens. Large debris captured on
the screen and not removed automatically, or by hand can result in damming and a
wastewater overflow.
Grit
Sand and grit can be washed from the collection system causing an abnormally high
amount of grit flowing into the facility. Grit removal production is often higher during high
flow periods, requiring close monitoring of the bin or dumpster.
Clarifier Blankets
Primary or Secondary blankets can rise during high flow periods. Sustained high flow can
cause the sludge blankets to escape the clarifiers resulting in rapid deterioration of the
effluent quality. High Flow Rounds should require frequent blanket depth measurements to
account for blanket levels.
