Ponds, by themselves can be operated in parallel or in series. In parallel, Ponds can treat a wider range of influent
flow. However, the most common way to operate Ponds are in series.
In series, Ponds can provide extended detention time for improved treatment.

Tertiary Treatment Ponds
Tertiary Treatment Ponds are used as last stage treatment at conventional wastewater treatment plants providing
Tertiary Treatment for a wastewater facility. Tertiary treatment provides secondary treated effluent time for
polishing, or additional settling and possibly disinfection prior to discharge.
