Stabilization Ponds & Sludge Lagoons
Traditional wastewater Stabilization Ponds and Sludge Lagoons were in rural
locations, where the population is sparse, and lots of space was available
between the Pond or Lagoon and its closest neighbor.
However, modern Pond designs and operation allow Ponds to be installed close
to the neighborhoods they serve.
Wastewater Stabilization Ponds components include:
✓ A Geotextile lined, sloped pond
✓ An influent pipe and bar screen
✓ A surface aerator and support cables
✓ An effluent weir (which may be floating or adjusted using a movable weir or stop
logs) and disinfection
✓ Recirculation Pumps
✓ Security Fence
