Wastewater Stabilization Pond Limitations

Wastewater Ponds rely on long detention time to treat wastewater.

Ponds treat wastewater from small communities. A Pond treating a residential

population of 1,000 would need to be larger than the size of a football field.

Larger communities find that Pond treatment would require too much land. As a

result, larger communities install more sophisticated treatment systems that have

smaller footprints, using less land.
