Breakpoint Chlorination
During Nitrification transition when Nitrite levels and chlorine generation
is high, reducing chlorine residual can result in increased free chlorine
residual.
Given the variables an Operator must manage (flow fluctuations and
changing detention time), the fine chemical balance and control of
breakpoint chlorination theory is difficult to achieve in the field.
