these cells also express perforin and NCR1 and are cytotoxic for
VetBooks.ir mouse and sheep cell targets. They produce IFN-γ in response to
IL-12 stimulation.
Pigs
Pig NK cells are NCR1, CD25, CD8a, CD16 positive, but subsets
exist. Pigs have a single KIR gene and a single Ly49 gene, and the
latter may be a pseudogene. Thus it is uncertain how pig NK cells
recognize their targets. Porcine NK cells are found in spleen and
peripheral blood, but very few are found in lymph nodes or thymus
(Fig. 19.13). They can lyse human cancer cells as well as cells
infected with transmissible gastroenteritis virus or pseudorabies
virus. Pigs have two MIC genes, one of which is a pseudogene.

Dogs
Dog NK cells may be isolated by culturing peripheral blood
mononuclear cells and removing the T cells by anti-T cell antibodies
