highly developed telepathic sense through which they communicate with each other and the

world around them. The ‘sixth sense’ is something of which horses and other animals appear
VetBooks.ir to have a strong awareness. Through healing we become sensitive and ‘energy aware’. We
can activate and rediscover our sixth sense and then healing becomes a form of

communication. Through this we receive feedback from the horse about issues of the present.
Horses also have an emotional and physical energy memory existing at cellular level. It is

possible therefore to communicate about past issues and how they play a part in what is
troubling the horse in the present.

From the horse’s standpoint, communication from him to humans is clear, but many a
time it is misunderstood by us. Communication from humans to the horse is not always clear,

and they frequently have little idea of what we want, or why we want to do something. We
need to explore different ways of communicating with them. As healing and the sixth sense

work on the same energy wavelengths, this is another good reason to practise the art of
hands-on healing because it opens up the powerful, deep communication channels. Tuning in
on a healing vibration activates the mind-to-mind communication levels and helps us to listen

deeply to the horse and what he is trying to say to us.

How to give healing to a horse

Healing treatments can be planned ahead, selecting a time when the environment is quiet for
the horse and the healer will not be disturbed. The horse should be standing on a soft bed and

not be tied up. This allows the horse to relax and stretch out if he feels the need to do so.
Healing can also be given without prior planning in an acute situation, as a first-aid help,
whilst waiting for the vet to arrive. In all cases the methods are the same: either one or both

hands, are gently laid on the body, or held just above it (Figure 14.10). Wounds and sensitive
areas should not be touched. The healer then focuses on sending positive thoughts of wanting

to help at soul level, which activates the universal healing source to connect with the energy
field of the horse, allowing beneficial energy to flow. The horse takes what he or she needs,
at whatever level is possible, at any given time. The healer may feel heat or tingling under the

hands or fingertips and the horse can become very relaxed.
