• In the summer months some horses are affected by a form of pastern dermatitis known as
leukocytoclastic vasculitis, which occurs in the absence of mud. It is an
VetBooks.ir immunemediated condition thought to be associated with exposure to sunlight or
environmental irritants such as buttercups. The lesions frequently extend up the cannon
bone, and the legs may be swollen and painful.
