“The man I use is alive,” the near perfect woman said. Her voice the sound of
waterfalls. “He died of an overdose of one of your many recreational drugs. I entered
his body seven breathes later. Unfortunately, as much of an incredible physical
specimen he is for a mortal, his body needs a break from me at regular intervals.”
“Intervals his wife has noticed,” Fannie said.
“I know,” the goddess of sex answered. A hint of concern in her voice told Fannie all
she needed to know. “I like being Drake Lords. I like being married. I don’t wish to
have to vacate this body and find another one. This is an unusual situation for me. I
find I need to craft a fabrication to cover the days I am gone. Or let him die right
here.”
“Why not just go back on the same day,” Fannie asked. “This is time travel. Stay here
until he is recharged then reappear like five seconds after you leave.”
“It doesn’t work like that.”
An awkward silence settled over the tiny hut. Fannie felt the presence of others. Men
and women she could only assume were gods and goddesses. She wasn’t sure which
ones and didn’t want to know. All Fannie wanted now was to return to her little home
in one piece.
“I can help with that,” Fannie said.
“Why?” the goddess asked.
“I want to go home,” Fannie replied. “My home. I want to go there and continue to
live the way I like. Which means I need to help you and to help you I must provide
Cherry with an answer. One she will believe. I have that answer. However, you will
have to back it up as Drake. Are you up for this?”
The goddess smiled like a shark does before it eats its prey.
