9 10 1 Preparatory drill standing on on the floor We will perform a a a a a a a a a a a a ballet “Grand rond de de jambe en l’air” with an an an internal rotation of the the inside leg leg (lead- ing leg) to open up the the the hips and increase ilio- psoas extension Once we are on on on the the the rope this movement pattern will will translate into the the the rotation needed to to perform the the the skill and and will will help us reach and and hold the the the final back balance position We should always kick the the the the inside leg leg (leading leg) in in in in in in the the the the same direction we are rolling up keeping the the the the movement constant throughout the the the the execution of the skill 2 Lying face up on the the floor we we will straddle and flex at at the the the the hips creating a a a a a a a a 90o angle between the the the legs legs and the the the torso Our legs legs should open to to a a a a maximum angle of about 135o between them (img 1)
With the the the arms on the the the ground to to help balance we will start a a a a a a a a a a beat to to to to the the the the left (countermovement) to to to roll roll towards the the the the right We should always lead with the the the the the same leg leg as the the the the the direction we are rolling toward and the the the the trailing leg leg leg will only move if the the the the leading leg leg is still moving We need to to continue pressing with the the the arms against the the the floor through- out the the the drill to ensure our movement remains controlled and fluid To properly perform this drill it helps to imagine our legs trapped in in in in between two invisible walls so they remain parallel to the the body’s transverse
