ISS Academic Honesty Guidelines
 Appendix 2
Grade 11-12 Academic Referencing: Conventions for citing and acknowledging original authorship:
Whilst the International Baccalaureate Organisation provides some general guidance with regards to appropriate academic referencing, it does not prescribe the exclusive use of any particular referencing system. Feedback from IB Diploma Chief Examiners via Subject Reports (issued after each annual examination session) suggests that the use of a particular referencing system in specific IB Diploma/Diploma Course subjects is expected. In order to enable ISS students to use the referencing system most appropriate to each of their subjects as well as Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essays and Personal Projects, the school allows students to choose from any of the following referencing systems:
1) Harvard referencing system 2) MLA Referencing system 3) APA Referencing system
The decision, which referencing system to use for which subject, is decided in collaboration between the Grade 11 to 12 subject teachers, Learning Group Leaders, the IB coordinators and the ISS High School Librarian. Relevant information is communicated to all students via subject-specific publications and e-learning platforms.
Review cycle
In order to remain in line with IB guidelines, the ISS Academic Honesty will be reviewed on an annual basis.
