Project-Based Learning: A Pathway to Excellence and
Sustainability at City of Knowledge Academy (Cont’d)
Supporting Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9): PBL encourages
innovation and problem-solving skills crucial for sustainable development.
Advancing Climate Action (SDG 13): Many PBL initiatives involve projects focused
on environmental stewardship and climate solutions.
At City of Knowledge Academy, we have made PBL a cornerstone of our termly
continuous assessment framework. This initiative is not just an educational
strategy but a commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of critical
thinking and adept at solving complex problems. Our dedication to PBL has
continued to yield outstanding results. This year, our students excelled in the
prestigious CONRAD Innovative Challenge, winning scholarships worth over $1.2
million for all our Year 11 and 12 students. This remarkable achievement
underscores the effectiveness of PBL in preparing students for academic success
and real-world challenges.
We believe that the success of PBL at City of Knowledge Academy can be a model
for others; hence, we need the support of parents and all stakeholders in the
educational sector to encourage and support our initiatives by motivating students
to embrace project-based activities both at school and at home; participating in
school projects and offering real-world problems that students can work on; and
collaborating and partnering with us to provide resources and opportunities for
students to work on diverse and meaningful projects.
In conclusion, Project-Based Learning is not just an instructional strategy but a
pathway to developing essential lifelong skills and advancing the Sustainable
Development Goals. At City of Knowledge Academy, we are proud of our
achievements and remain committed to this journey of excellence. Together, let’s
support PBL and empower our students to become the innovative leaders and
responsible global citizens of tomorrow.
