Buntline hitch: originally used to secure the buntline ropes on old square riggers, but today it is most
  often used to knot a neck tie. Take the tie around your neck, bringing the working end, in this instance

  the longer (and wider) end, over the standing part before making a turn around it. Now bring the end
  up through the bight around your neck, and then tuck it down under the last turn made around the
  standing part.
