Right Cross: Medium Range
Situation Two: Your assailant throws
a right cross at your head.
1) Lean back and snap a lead leg front
kick to his lower abdomen.* (Fig. 113)
2) Slam a hard roundhouse kick into
his left thigh using your shin. (Fig. 114)
3) Throw a whipping right elbow to
his temple. (Fig. 115) Fig 113
*The snapping lead leg front kick
counter to a right cross is a direct steal
from sport kick boxing; only the target
differs. This counter works because
the leg is longer and stronger than the
right cross. You should work the ‘snap
up’ focus pads drill to make this
technique sharp.
