REPORT FROM GUILLERMO RIVERA, DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS & SERVICES
The year 2020 was quite a challenge! The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic may have slowed us down,
but we never stopped providing services to the communities we serve. The dedicated staff at New
Hope Charities pushed through the obstacles presented by Covid-19 and managed the following:
Food bag distribution to needy families and elders, summer camp services students, virtual learning
services, after-school programming, and the Christmas toy give-away. We maintained all of our
services.
Throughout the covid-19 shutdowns (March -June), New
Hope distributed more than 500 food bags utilizing a drive-
thru method of distribution that protected staff and clients.
For many of our recipients, New Hope Charities became their
primary source of food.
After careful planning and reconfiguring of classrooms (as
per CDC guidelines) we launched our summer camp. New
Hope provided campers with lots of fun and educational
activities during a difficult and uncertain time.
