canvases, easels, clay and paints. Now, we can incorporate arts into everyday classes, which has been proven to
develop children’s social emotional skills.
o Egan Family Fund: Long-time supporters of Jack & Jill, the Egan Family was excited to learn about our plans to
expand. Through their Foundation Fund, they have committed to our capital campaign this year. We are grateful
for their faith in our future growth and development.
o Gene and Collette Herman Family Fund, Lou and May Jean Wolff Family Foundation Fund, Shea Family
Charitable Fund: As the oldest nonprofit provider of early childhood education in Broward County, Jack & Jill has
always been laser-focused on providing the best care and education for our children. Day in and day out, we
strive to reach our vision of every child and family having the tools the y need to be successful in life. However,
the cost of operating the day-to-day, such as staff, electricity and supplies easily adds up. We appreciate these
Foundation Fundholders for their generous support which allows us to do what we do and keep the lights on.
• A lasting legacy - As a nonprofit that relies heavily on philanthropic support, Jack & Jill realizes a gift that continues
to give can make a world of difference. Since our establishment in 1942, we’ve made many friends and supporters in
the community who want to ensure our programs continue to grow long after they’re gone. The following Foundation
Fundholders support Jack & Jill in unique ways:
o Marilyn Mayhill Scholarship Fund for the Jack & Jill Nursery: Marilyn Mayhill led by example during her
more than 25 years of community service. Upon her death, her family and friends established this permanent
Fund to continue Marilyn's leadership and passion around Jack & Jill. The Fund provides annual scholarship
support to ensure that children of working families can attend our school.
o Thomas L. Monz and Shelley Irene Walker Memorial Fund: In memory of Barbara Monz’s husband and
daughter, this Fund provides yearly preventative care and medical treatment for Jack & Jill’s children. It helps us
purchase emergency supplies and provides CPR training for our teachers every year.
o Francis A. and Adeline M. Sines Memorial Fund: A true friend of Jack & Jill’s while she was alive, Adeline (Del)
Sines adored the children in our program and loved seeing their faces light up. As she carefully crafted her will,
she selected us to be in a very small group of organizations that would be supported through her Fund at the
Foundation. We rely on Del’s continued support every year as needs arise.
We greatly appreciate the visionary Fundholders at the Foundation who make our mission possible every single year. We
also wish to acknowledge all of the Foundation Fundholders who have provided past, present and future support to Jack
& Jill’s families and children. To learn more about this wonderful partnership that benefits Jack & Jill and our entire
community, feel free to contact Nancy Thies, vice president of philanthropic services at the Community Foundation of
