Recommendations
The course is divided in three parts:
Oral A language is a slowly acquired subject,
General Conversation not something you can ‘swot’ at the
Document last minute.
Aural Therefore, students taking a modern
Interviews language for Leaving Cert. should:
Dialogues Be good attenders
News reports Be willing to do homework on a
Weather Forecasts regular basis
Written Be attentive in class
Grammar Have at least a C-grade at Higher
Reading Comprehensions Level Junior Cert.
Written Expression
Examination Requirements
15 minute oral in March/April
25% HL or 20% OL
Matriculation in a foreign
2½ hour written exam in June language is required for entry into
55% HL and OL
UCD, DCU, UL, UCG, Maynooth.
40 minute aural exam in June
20% HL or 25% OL
