Recommendations
The course is divided in three parts:
Oral A language is a slowly acquired subject,
General Conversation not something you can ‘swot’ at the
Storyboards last minute.
Role-plays Therefore, students taking a modern
Aural language for Leaving Cert. should:
Interviews Be good attenders
Dialogues Be willing to do homework on a
News reports
Weather Forecasts regular basis
Written Be attentive in class
Grammar Have at least a C-grade at Higher
Reading Comprehensions Level Junior Cert,
Written Expression
Examination Requirements
15 minute oral in March/April
25% HL or 20% OL
Matriculation in a foreign
2½ hours written exam in June language is required for entry into
55% HL and OL
UCD, DCU, UL, UCG, Maynooth.
40 minute aural exam in June
20% HL or 25% OL
