The State of Mind

“The state of mind” and “the mind”: The state of mind is the result that emerges from our dhamma practice, the condition of our mind. In a simpler term: It is how our state of mind is. Assuming that our state of mind is comfortable; it is light—these are characteristics of the state of mind. But, a mind is the mind that does its duty to experience that it is light and comfortable; that we feel light and comfortable, that we feel happy, that we feel stable. Why do we use the same term? When it feels serene, the feeling is the mind—it is a characteristic of the mind. But, the characteristic of the state of mind tells us the result that emerges. The mind that experiences serenity, that experiences comfort—do we notice whether they are one of the same or separate?
Now, the words “ambiance” and “the state of mind”: In reality, the ambiance must also be the ambiance of our state of mind. Assuming that we feel serene, then that serenity spreads out to become the ambiance. It becomes the
