encompass us, then we will be cautious with our physical bodies, our words, actions—(the ambiance) will act as the screener for all of our phenomena. Whenever we do not have the ambiance to support us, everything will come out in lumps, words will come out dense and heavy; all actions will appear unseemly.
If we can elevate our mind; to make our mind unburdened; to be happy; to be comfortable. If we want to have an ambiance, to reside within our own ambiance—to have an ambiance as support—like having our own home. If we already have our own home, do not go into other people’s houses too often. If we have our own home, if it is big, when it rains, we will not get wet. When the sun shines, we will not be hot. This is having an ambiance to support. Observe that when our ambiance is expansive, the wind blows but it cannot reach us—just like the hot sunshine and the rain. But, whenever our ambiance is gone, even a small ray of sunlight can easily reach into our home—making it hot. A few drops of rain already makes it wet. Observe that whenever we do not have an ambiance, noises that are very distant and have nothing to do with us still irritate us. That shows that we live without walls; with nothing at all to shield us.
Therefore, as we have an ambiance to support us, we should use it often, we should do it (Translator’s note: Create an ambiance) often. Have a kind of ambiance, be
