  Recollections from Dave Rye:
I grew up in the Presbyterian Church, which was my parents’ “compromise” since my Methodist mother considered the liturgy of my father’s Lutheran background to be “too Catholic.”
I was basically unchurched from ages 18 to 40, but more and more felt a major gap that neither work nor political involvement could close. I began a study of various denominations, and decided that — of all things — the Lutheran Church of my baptism, with its emphasis on salvation by grace through faith, was the best fit.
Gerry and Jane Hudson, who were among the original members of King of Glory, talked to me about this new church which didn’t yet have a building, and its dynamic founding pastor who was almost exactly my age, so Gay and I decided to give it a try even though we had not been church attenders for the first 14 years of our marriage. We joined KOG with the “second wave” in 1985.
