"To welcome another, to provide for him or her, to make a place, is the one of the most life-giving and life-receiving things a human being can do. They are the basic universal acts of love. Our lives were meant to be full of such acts." -Dallas Willard
Within the DNA of King of Glory is a love for children. Not because they are the church's future, but because they are its very present. Long before a child can place a coin in the offering plate, memorize a Scripture passage, or "choose" to follow Jesus, the community of KOG has already decided to surround the child with love. We place children and youth at the very center of our community of faith because this is where Jesus placed them, saying, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs" (Matthew 19:14). In a way, the congregation "carries" the children, but in reality, again and again, the children are the ones who are faithfully leading us. In the presence of children who seek care and connection, we are drawn out of ourselves and fall in love with the wonder (and even the wiggles) of the child.
Each year when we seek adults to serve as Mentors or Sunday School Teachers we emphasize that without available, authentic, and affirming adults our children cannot be taught the faith. But perhaps the better angle is this one: without adults who lead, all of us miss out on encounters of resonance with kids!
If you are interested in sharing gifts your gifts with the children of KOG, please contact the church office or Pastor Jen (PastorJen@kingofglorybillings.com).
Preschool - grade 2 begin at 9:30am in the Sanctuary for 10 minutes of music with Jen Keller. Then these classes will move to classrooms for Bible Stories and activities. Caring adults are always needed and our teaching teams are truly a team effort!
Grades 3, 4, and 5 (called GIFT345) meets in the Martha Room at 9:30am for 30 minutes with mentors and Scripture. The last 30 minutes are spent with Jen Keller, singing and making a joyful noise to the LORD!
