Kendall Jenner:
Pepsi
April 2017 saw one
of the most
loathed ads in
recent memory
with Pepsi’s two-
and-a-half minutes advert “Live for Now,” which featured
Kendall Jenner helping to co-opt the Black Lives Matter
movement? The ad featured Jenner leaving her modelling
job to join a nondescript mass march where tensions were
mounting between a large crowd of young protesters and
police. The situation was defused by Jenner when she
handed a police officer a can of Pepsi. However, The ad
contained much that didn’t make sense.
Why would protest signs read “Join the Conversation”?
How were the audience supposed to relate to Jenner
right after she rips off her wig and carelessly tosses it at
a black woman standing next to her?
Social media reacted quickly branding the advert as
tasteless and well off the mark and even Doctor
Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter calling out Pepsi on
Twitter.
If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi.
