2: Executive Summary
This is a concisely written statement, usually less than one
page and placed at the front of the report.
It summarises the major issues/points of the case such as
problems and opportunities confronted as well as
recommendations and proposed solution. It highlights the
rationale supporting the solution
The executive summary encapsulates the ideas of:
– Where are we now?,
– Where do we want to be? and
– How do we get there?
Although first in the prepared presentation the executive
summary is often the last item to be addressed and written
when undertaking a written report.
