Weaknesses
• Material legacy conduct issues are still a factor in the
near future for Barclays that they will have to
contend with.
• Legacy technology issues and operating
infrastructure need to be modernised and be cyber
resilient (Financial Times 2017).
• Returns from Barclays’ core businesses particularly
the corporate and investment banking segments in
the US, are still a major weakness with the group
trading at a 40% discount to book value.
