KEY POINTS:
The judgment revoked McDonald's registration of the trademark,
saying the world's largest fast-food chain had not proven genuine use
of it over the five years prior to the case being lodged in 2017.
• The ruling allows other companies to use the Big Mac name in the
European Union
• It means the Irish fast-food chain can now expand in the United
Kingdom and Europe
• Supermac's don't have a Big Mac product, but McDonald's used the
similarity of the names to block company's expansion
Use it or Lose it!!!!!!
Perhaps this ruling by the EUIPO will curb the actions of
large firms, with deep pockets and litigious predispositions
from blocking competition and growth?
