Thirtyseven days after Oscar Munoz found himself running
United Airlines, a company in deep crisis, he suffered a
massive heart attack which resulted in him spending five

months off the job.

Munoz given task of sorting out a
company in crisis.

But he promptly has a massive heart
attack before he can really address

the problems.

In the short-term Munoz’s heart attack is critical for both Munoz
and the company. It leaves Munoz in fear for his life and the
company in a state of flux with an executive shorn of its leader

at a time when firm control was called for.
