PREAMBLE & INTRODUCTION

PREAMBLE

The Case Lab is a simple way of bringing together business

case studies, their construction, usage and analysis by

drawing upon a variety of business cases developed for use

in the learning environment. These business case studies
are used to explore the proactive integration of theory and

practice. In effect, the Case Lab supports the view that if

knowledge is the basis for rational decision making then

business case studies are essentially reservoirs from which
business analysis may be drawn and rational decisions built.

The Case Lab attempts to demystify the case method by

examining the route and interpretation of the signposts that

litter the path to successful resolution of case analysis and
does such by avoiding the obfuscation and over

intellectualisation often associated with case study teaching

and examination.
